Should I continue to pursue journalism or go into education?
Okay, here's my dilemma. I'm a first year graduate student pursuing my Masters degree in Journalism in Chicago. (My passion is writing) ? I'm a South Carolina native so I am in Chicago alone minus my family and friends. After 3 months, I'm considering moving back closer to home (Atlanta) so that I can have the luxury of driving home to SC (4 hours) to see my parents, siblings and boyfriend when I get ready. In addition, I have a lot of friends in Atlanta whereas I don't know anyone here in Chicago besides the people I've met this semester. I love writing; I've contributed to the newspaper at my college several times this semester and I'm enjoying the classes however being away from family is taking a toll on me and I absolutely despise the Chicago weather in the winter. Can you believe it's 55 today and it's APRIL!?!
If I go to Atlanta, the universities don't offer many programs in Journalism at the graduate level so I will do what has always been my second career choice -- education (teaching English) ? I also feel there is more stability and security going this route rather than racking up 30K in loans for this private college in Chicago and my degree being invaluable post graduation since print media seems to be dying out and going digital.
What would you do -- stay in Chicago away from family and friends, finish the Journalism program (until Dec 2011) or go to Atlanta where I'll be closer to family and friends and pursue a degree in Education where I'll be teaching English.

R&P: It's EFFING cold outside, check out playlist of the week #Go (Go is 5 in Japanese)?
Chicago weather has always been bipolar, but it is absolutely unacceptable when it's between thirty and forty degrees outside in the middle of fu*king April. UNACCEPTABLE! Grrrr! So here is my fifth playlist since I started doing these. Enjoy, and do not be alarmed that the days of the week are in Japanese...it's still MON, TUES, WED and so on, just in Japanese!!

This is for the New Yorkers/ Or people who have lived here for at least 10 years?
I'm from Chicago and I really want to move to New York. I heard it's a fun place, but that it can also become a headache after a while. The new yorkers that live here, tell me that the people are really friendly, the food is good, and the shopping is great. So far, all the new yorkers I met were cool. And if any of you have been to Chicago, how does this place compare to yours. The thing I here the most is that people say chicago is a lot cleaner. The thing I here from people that live in Chicago who have been to new york, say that it's too much going on. So what are your opinions?
Also, the new yorkers hate Chicago weather. One person I know said we have the most unromantic weather, whatever that means. But what are some weather differences. Thanks
New Jersey is the closest I got and I loved it. But thanks for the advice
Thanks steven, you really helped. And yes, i'll visit before moving there.
