selling house privately - what do i save?
Hi. full story: i live in the UK. my mum and dad have died last year, and me and my 2 brothers have inherited their house (1 third of their estate was left to each of us.) the house, worth 300k, has been on sale through an agent. now, my brother has offered to buy myself and my other brother out. but he has offered each of us much less than what one-third share would be. i.e. 90K. he says that this is reasonable as we will be saving all the fees from arranging this privately. i'm guessing we will save the 2% estate agents fee. but what other fees will we save? ...and am i being conned? my way of thinking is that he gets a 300k house for 180k (2x 90k) - which gains him 120k equity, and only gains me and my other brother 90k each. am i missing something. what would a reasonable offer be? if he is going to be the buyer, then i dont want to be paying for any of the 'buying fees', only those that we would naturally pay as a 'seller', which we would split 3 ways anyway

I live in New York City. I would like to know if I am able to sell houses, privately, without a license and not getting in trouble with the law. Let me clarify: If i know someone who is selling the house, can i locate a buyer (or vice-versa) and get a commission. A contract will be put in place.
