Things To Consider When Moving To A Des Moines Apartment

Moving to a new apartment might be an overwhelming experience. Luckily, there are several steps you can take to counter this dilemma. Planning and organizing before the move will help you keep track of your things and make the move more pleasing and enjoyable.

First of all you need help. Recruit friends or relatives to help you move. They can help pack up everything from your old home. Determine how many people it will take to move the heaviest load to your new apartment, that's the helping hands you need to the entire move. Schedule them two weeks before the move so they can prepare. Keep your volunteers informed about the exact date of the move. Make sure you will reward them appropriately.

If friends and relatives are not available, hire a moving company that is reliable and trustworthy. They will almost do all the work for you. Many Ankeny Iowa apartments and Des Moines Iowa apartment property management will have information on moving companies available in the area.

Secondly, you will also need transportation. Rent a truck that is big enough to carry your whole possessions to your new apartment. Make the transaction a week in advance and also keep them informed of the exact date. In that way you won't be disappointed about the truck not showing up.

Inform your utility, telephone, cable and internet service provider about the transfer of service to the new address two weeks before the move.

Load the heaviest and largest items first, tie them securely to avoid damage on your belongings. Small and light items can be put under the bed or above the couches, the boxes can be nestled into the remaining space in your truck.

Make sure your volunteers wears PPE (Personal Protection Equipment). This simple protective gear such as gloves and safety shoes will protect them from accidents during the move. Tell them to lift with their legs and not with their backs.

After transporting to your new apartment, all high-priced goods such as LCD TV or Hi-Fi System must be quickly moved-in or hidden under a blanket to protect it from thieves.

Check all utilities, test them to see if all are working. Check for gas leaks and inform the service providers that you have moved in your new apartment.

It is imperative to move in your belongings inside your new apartment as quickly as possible, so that you can let your volunteers of the hook and return the truck on time to avoid penalties.

It may take you a week or so to get everything organized, but this is usually not too stressful of an experience.

Little Hot water during shower in Iowa apartment?
I just moved to Iowa in an apartment for college. Depending on the time of day I may get a 5 mins shower with hot water or I may just get cold water. This all depends on the time I wake up. They currently have 40gal 37500 BTU water heater for the 7 people that live here. I was wondering if that is a reasonable amount of hot water as it says in Iowa code 562A.15. I have told my landlord I have little or no hot water in the morning and she says wake up early. What should I do? Is there a way to report her? Can I take a percentage off of my rent for not having hot water all the time? Thanks for your answers

Noisy Apartment Neighbors No Help From Landlord...?
My wife, 2 year old son & I moved into a first floor Iowa apartment on October 1st. We pay $815.00 per Month. We went to the office, signed the lease and started to unload our U-Haul. As we were unloading the U-Haul, the Indian lady who lives upstairs directly above us walked over to the truck as we are unloading and apologized for "all the noise" that her baby would be making. Come to find out, her baby is a 7 year old who repeatedly jumps up and down in one spot and then it sounds as if she is jumping off the furniture over and over and over. She jumps so hard that the whit spackle on the ceiling falls onto our carpet. I have knocked on the ceiling, that did not work. I went up in person and asked them to please stop. That did not work. My wife went up in person. That did not work. I called law enforcement. That did not work as they told the police officer that they can make all the noise they want between 10pm & 8am. The police officer told us to deal with the office. I called the office once. They said they would send a letter. Also since we called the police on them, they called police on us for no reason. They have received the letter and she still jumps up and down in one spot for an hour at a time. I called the office to complain this morning and apartment manager said we would have to move if we dont stop complaining about the noise. Can they make us move? Do they have to give us our $600.00 Deposit if they do? Thanks
