Living off-campus for the first time...any advice?
Hi,
My friends and I are moving off-campus this up and coming fall. I was just wondering should we look for a apartment or house to rent out. We're willing to pay up to $1060 total in rent and it's 3 of us. From the looks of it the kind of apartment that we want is willing to work with us but they dont really offer any amenities like water, gas, or electric.
Would it be better to just rent a house or apartment?... and we all know that getting the house will be more up keep but are willing to put in the work.
What are some pros and cons of both?
The houses that I found rent was no more than $800/month.
Is craigslist a decent site to look for houses to rent out?

How can I find a house to rent for under 1000.00 a month in Los Angeles California? I keep just getting scams!?
I am in Los Angeles, Sunland specifically.I have signed into WestSideRentals and have combed Craigslist for 5 days straight. Submitted tons of inquiries and all I've gotten back are scam artists that want money wiring and false lead ons....

Hello!!!
My fiancé and I are very interested in renting your property. We'd love to connect with you and if possible come visit the place? We are looking for a quiet safe home to rent. We garden, cook, take care of our environment and are very positive steady people. We have two kittens that are very mild mannered. We both have excellent credit along with references from our last 2 year residency. Please get back to us soon. THANK YOU!
We would take such good care of the property should we get the opportunity!
We just want to live in a home. And pay rent. We are really good renters and I'm just so discouraged.
Any help?

Letting agent changed moving in date?
I viewed a house to rent that needed a bit of cosmetic work doing. I explained I'd be interested in it if they could give me a specific date to move in as I am heavily pregnant and it wouldn't be feasible to move close to due date or soon after baby is born. The agent (who is the brother of the landlord of the house) reassured me it would be finished and my moving in date would be 14th April when I'm 37 weeks pregnant he also reassured me I could put my notice in on my current flat. I've had checks done and and also paid a holding deposit.
Today I called them as noticed when driving past the new place that the house had not been vacated from previous tenant as they said it would. They said 14th isn't for sure now!!! I have two weeks left on my notice at current flat and if I do extend I'll be due or will have given birth. The agent is expecting me to just sit tight whilst they pull their finger out and get the house ready!!!
This is just not on and it's stressing me out. I have furniture on order and stored etc do would have to also reorganize all this.
Is there anything I can do????
I've only signed an application form not a tenancy so not sure where I stand

summer rental in new york?
I am going to america next summer with three friends and I am looking for an apartment/house to rent for the summer months(June-August). Any sites I have looked at so far are offering crazy holiday apartment prices and I was wondering if anyone knew of any sites or places I can look at to get something cheaper, we plan to work for the three months and so we will be able to pay for the rent but if we cant find anything at a suitable price we would be safer going for a shorter time and staying in a hotel. Any help would really be appriciated, Im not looking for anything posh or in the city itselt, im open to all areas with handy access to the city.
Yes I am aware of the necessary visas required, i have visited the US on numerous occasions. I will be working through the JI programme. Thanks for the concern though.

How long should I expect to wait to get my deposit back?
Our lease is up on April 30th, and we've found a house to rent that we're going to be moving into on April 20th with the rent pro-rated (obviously we paid April's rent at our current place already). I called my landlord right after we found out we were approved for this house, and he's OK with everything as long as we wrote him a note going with this month's rent (we did).
There's no major damage to our current apartment. There might be a couple new carpet stains (the carpet was pretty bad to begin with and he even told us that he was going to replace it after we left) so I'm not concerned about not getting my depoit back or anything like that.
I'm just wondering, how long does it usually take? Assuming we gave notice (we did), and there's no major damage (there's not)
